What another busy half term we have had this Summer 1st half 2019!
During our study of the Anglo Saxons and Vikings, we created weaponry, created natural dye to dye our clothing, acted out different stages of King Alfred’s life story and held a Viking Day. During the Viking day, we made bread and stew after eating a hearty breakfast of porridge and fruit. Following this, we learnt Viking sagas to tell one another on our long journeys as well as holding an afternoon competition where we competed against neighbouring towns in skittles and tug of war. We were extremely fortunate to have guests arrive for our Viking feast. Look at all of our wonderful pictures of our studies.

In studying the unit Misty Mountain Sierra in the Autumn 2nd half term, on a blustery chilly cloudy day, Year 4 set off up Bothen hill to experience the difference of altitudes and to observe the features of our beautiful landscape. Along with the teachers, Year 4 were lucky to have the fabulous story teller Martin Maudsley to lead them who told tales from local folk lore. Everyone discovered so much this 8th November 2018, it was an amazing morning.

Year 4 had a wonderful day taking part in Christmas Jumper day. Thank you so much for all of the donations.

During the Autumn 2nd half, Year 4 were extremely fortunate to be invited to take part in a Chinese lantern workshop. Wonderful Mickey Bonome joined us on Friday 2nd November for an exciting art afternoon. After great cooperation and great artistic flurry, each child had made a lantern.
On Wednesday 5th December, we joined other schools to lead Father Christmas in a lantern parade.
We have really enjoyed these amazing experiences. We really are lucky.

Tri Golf tournament
Year 4 were fortunate to be invited to a Tri Golf tournament held at Colfox school on Thursday 23rd May. The young leaders arranged a range of exciting sporting activities for the children to rotate round in groups of 10. All of the children excelled in their sporting achievements and St Mary’s staff were proud of the efforts. Well done Year 4.

Termly cooking
As part of our cooking during the year, we enjoyed making tropical fruit kebabs with a passion fruit yogurt dip. There was nothing left on any of the plates. They were that yummy!
Intra bench ball competition
Year 4 have also taken part in intra bench ball competitions within the class. Look at how much we have had and what team skills we are developing.
