Welcome to Cygnet Class!

Mrs Geldard is our teacher and she is supported by; Mrs Ireland, Mrs McDonald, Mrs Good and Miss Copeland . In our class we love doing Phonics and are really good at learning our sounds. We are learning how to form our letters and starting to write about things we do at home and in school. We use Numicom to help us work with numbers and enjoy Jungle Journey and PE. We like to go on short trips in the local area, these have included; Morrisons, Groves, the Library and St Mary's Playing Fields.

June 2019

We have had a very busy half term. Our topic has been 'Will you read me a story' and we have focused on the story of 'Kassim and the Dragon'

We have enjoyed activities including, creating thrones, making shields, writing rules to become a prince or princess and designing our own perfect house.

Below you can see some books that children have made, inspired by our story topic, and some rules for being a princess.

June 2019

We really enjoyed a visit from some ducklings brought in by Mrs Loveridge.

We got to hold and stroke the ducklings and then we let them explore our classroom.

GROVES VISIT MARCH 2019

Reception enjoyed a walk to Groves Garden Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

The class made a shopping list before setting off of all the things they would like to get and checked it against what we already had at school.

The children were split into groups on arrival and each group had 1 item to find.

We purchased gardening gloves, compost, wild flower seeds, strawberry plants and new pots for our sunflowers.

The children enjoyed exploring the garden centre spotting fish in the two ponds, being introduced to new scents in the herb area, with the curry plant being a favourite, and winding through the rose walk way.

The visit gave us lots of inspiration for the garden in our area and we are excited to get started on some new projects.

We would like to thank the kind and helpful staff at the garden centre we are lucky to have such a fantastic garden centre so close to school.
