We have just finished studying our topic ‘Potions’.
We learnt all about what potions are and how they have been used throughout history for magic or healing.
We explored the history of anaesthetics and made a class timeline of facts. Some interesting facts popped up such as how Incan shamans would chew coca leaves mixed with vegetable ash and then spit this into the wounds of patients to relieve pain!
Continuing on the theme of potions as medicine we went to Bridport museum to learn all about the famous Dr. Roberts who was born in Westbay in 1766.
Throughout the topic we planned and designed our own potions and potion bottles with ingredients and labels. We wrote portal stories and then instructions on how to make the potions.
We learnt the famous Witches spell and then wrote our own which we eventually turned into a musical performance focused on different timbres (sounds and effects) and a simple ostinato pattern to accompany the vocals.
We are now looking forward to our next topic... 'Misty Mountain Sierra'
