Evacuee Day 2025
Evacuee Day – A Journey Back in Time
Today, we travelled back in time to the 1940s and experienced what life might have been like for children during World War II. Dressed as evacuees, the children fully immersed themselves in the day, learning through hands-on activities and role play.
They tasted rationed foods, made their own gas masks, and were “evacuated” to the countryside. Using atlases, they discovered where they had been sent and created their own ration books to take home. We also spent time discussing how children might have felt during this period – from fear and uncertainty to adventure and resilience.
It was a fantastic, thought-provoking day full of imagination, learning, and empathy. Well done to all the children – and thank you again to families for the brilliant costumes!
