The Senior Leadership

Katharine Anstey - Headteacher (Interim)

Designated Safeguarding Lead

I have been a teacher for almost thirty years, working in a range of schools across the country and have been a headteacher for over 10 years.  I am passionate that we provide the very best teaching and learning approaches that help our children develop a love of learning so they can achieve their very best. I am delighted to be leading St Mary's this year, a wonderful school that nurtures and cares for each child to achieve their potential.

I grew up in Dorset, although I moved away to teach and returned 15 years ago with my husband and young family. My two children are now grown up, so life is a little quieter for my husband and I and our cockapoo Oreo, in Wimborne.  I love the outdoors and try to spend my spare time in my garden, walking or cycling in our beautiful countryside or swimming in the sea.

Sarah Jayne Samuel - Deputy Head Teacher

Designated Safeguarding Lead, Anti-Bullying Champion, Mental Health Lead

Having grown up in Bridport, I was delighted when the opportunity arose for me to return to my home town to teach. I became the Deputy Headteacher, alongside Kate, in 2018.

My time teaching in both Southampton and Bristol, gave me a great introduction to education and I learnt a lot about the importance of helping children to flourish emotionally, socially and academically. St. Mary's was the perfect fit for me on my return to Bridport!

I am passionate about reading, having always been an avid reader myself, and I love to talk about books with anyone who will listen! I also enjoy running and spending time with my two children and my cat.
